Sooners Sweep Florida State in Championship Series

Oklahoma Wins Record Fourth Consecutive Title

Oklahoma City, OK (AP) - The Oklahoma Sooners captured their fourth consecutive Women's College World Series title on Thursday night, defeating Florida State 3-1 in the championship game. The Sooners completed a sweep of the best-of-three series, extending their NCAA Division I softball winning streak to 48 games.

Mack Leonard gave Florida State an early lead with a home run in the fourth inning. However, Oklahoma rallied in the bottom of the inning with RBI singles from Grace Lyons and Jocelyn Alo. The Sooners added an insurance run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from Jayda Coleman.

Oklahoma pitcher Jordy Bahl tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits. She struck out six Florida State batters.

The Sooners' victory marked the first time a team has won four consecutive NCAA softball championships since the format was adopted in 1982. It is also the first time a team has swept the Women's College World Series since Oklahoma did it in 2016.
