According to a statement posted on his official website, Beck passed away on Tuesday at a hospital near his home in Riverhall, United Kingdom.

Beck rose to prominence as a member of the Yardbirds in the 1960s and later enjoyed a successful solo career. He was known for his innovative approach to guitar playing and his ability to blend different genres into his music.

Over his five-decade career, Beck won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a member of the Yardbirds and once as a solo artist.
